The DTRO module, also called RCDT (radial channel disc tube) or PT (plate tube) module, is built from 209 hydraulic discs and membrane cushions in a pressure vessel. Its open flow channels allow it to treat landfill leachate, highly concentrated industrial wastewater and the concentrate from spiral wound RO/NF systems. It can be used as a cross-reference replacement for Rochem DT/PT modules and Rotreat RCDT modules.

Key features

  • High-strength design, up to 120 bar operating pressure
  • Open discs with low flow resistance and low concentration polarization
  • High pressure resistance and high salt rejection (99%)
  • Round or octagonal membrane cushions
  • Membranes made of modified polyamide, cushions joined by ultrasonic welding

How the disc tube module works

Feed water enters the pressure vessel and reaches the first disc after a very short distance. It flows across one side of the membrane cushion, turns 180° and flows back over the other side, then passes to the next disc. The flow path between reversals is only about 3 inches, and the raised points on the hydraulic discs create strong turbulence. This self-cleaning effect reduces scaling and fouling and extends membrane life.

Each membrane cushion consists of two membrane discs with a polyester spacer, joined by ultrasonic welding so that the liquid never touches glue or other materials. Cushions are available in round or octagonal shape, for seawater (SW) or brackish water (BW).

Practical applications

Landfill leachate

Main application: treating leachate to discharge standards.

Concentrated industrial wastewater

High-salinity and high-COD industrial wastewater.

RO/NF concentrate

Further concentrating the reject of spiral wound RO/NF systems.
