A spiral wound module is made by winding flat sheet membranes, feed spacers and permeate carriers around a central permeate tube. This packs a large membrane area into a small element. By choosing the membrane material, pore size and spacer, the module can be matched to very different liquids, temperatures and pH levels.
Key features
- Compact structure with high packing density
- Full range of membrane types: MF, UF, NF, RO
- RO elements run at 1 – 10 MPa, UF and MF at 0.1 – 0.6 MPa
- Sanitary, high-temperature, acid and caustic resistant designs
- FDA compliant materials for food and pharmaceutical use
Typical process applications
- Electro-coating (E-coat) paint recovery
- Milk standardisation, cream cheese production, whey concentration and cheese brine clarification
- Concentration of protein and gelatin; enzymes and fermentation broths
- Clarification of soy sauce
- Acid and caustic recovery
- Industrial water and oil/water emulsions
Advantages
- FDA compliant materials
- Wide range of membrane types
- High temperature resistance
- High pH and solvent resistance
- Great mechanical strength
- Customisation for each process
